The proposed New Light Source (NLS) Facility is based on advanced conventional and free electron lasers, with unique and world leading capabilities. Central to the proposal is a femtosecond soft X-ray (1-5 keV) capability. This will allow us to conduct unique studies of the microscopic motions that occur within matter of all kinds. The exceptional brightness and coherence of the light will permit other unprecedented research that will have the potential for revolutionary advances in science and technology.
This roadshow meeting will focus on the applications of the NLS to Chemical Science research and will feature a presentation by Dr Christian Bressler from European XFEL, Hamburg on his recent work using femtosecond X-ray pulses to probe ultrafast photochemical processes in the solution phase.
